Sometimes all it takes is one night in a different anchorage to feel like you’ve hit refresh.
After spending a calm night at anchor in Grace Harbour, I decided to shift the scenery just a little. We set sail late in the afternoon and made the short trip over to the Copeland Islands — a cluster of forested islets that always seem to promise quiet. And they delivered.
I dropped the hook just before sunset, nestled in behind one of the smaller islands. The dogs were ready for their next land mission, so we dinghied ashore and found a trail that cut across the island. It led us to a calm bay on the other side where they could explore, splash around, and just be dogs. I followed their lead and let the pace slow down. No rush, no pressure. Just salty air and soft light filtering through the trees.
The night was peaceful. No swell, no noise. Just the sound of water lapping at the hull.
By morning, we were up with the sun and headed home, the dogs curled up contentedly in the cockpit as we sailed out.
Short trip. Big impact.
